Black Eyed Pea Cornbread


1 ounce 15 can black eyed peas with bacon & jalapenos undrained

1 cup cornmeal

1/2 cup flour

1 teaspoon soda

2 eggs slightly beaten

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup oil

1/2 lb. cheddar cheese grated

1 onion chopped

3/4 cup cream style corn

1 lb. ground beef browned & drained

picante sauce


Mix all ingredients except picante sauce & pour into a greased 9"x13" pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Let cool about 15 minutes before cutting. Top with picante sauce if desired.
