Fruit-Sausage Stuffing


1 lb sweet Italian sausage casings removed

4 med tart apples cored and diced

1 bag (7 oz) diced mixed dried fruit

2 tsps dried sage

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 packages (10 oz) frozen Parmesan garlic bread (P'ridge Farm cut in 1/2" cubes

1 cup chicken broth


In a large skillet, cook sausage, breaking up the meat as it cooks. When brown, add apples & cook & stir until apples are tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in the dried fruit, sage & nutmeg. Fold in the bread and add the broth.
Lightly grease a 9x13" baking dish or 3 qt casserole. Spoon in the stuffing. (Can be made a day in advance to this point.) Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Serve with Port wine gravy.
