Hot Buttered Rum Mix


2 lbs brown sugar

1 lb butter softened

2 tsps ground cinnamon

2 tsps ground cloves

2 tsps ground nutmeg


Cream the butter well and add sugar; beat till fluffy. Beat for 10 minutes with electric mixer, adding spices during process. For a slightly smoother mixture, thin the paste with a little rum.

To Serve: For each portion, place 1 tsp of the paste, 1 1/4 oz dark rum and 1/4 oz brandy in a preheated mug. Fill the mug with boiling water and add a cinnamon-stick muddler.


Notes: Keeps for months in refrigerator or freezer, tightly covered.
