Oriental Chicken Wings (Shoyu Chicken)


3 lbs chicken wings or thighs

2/3 cups soy sauce

4 slices ginger root peeled and sliced

2 tbsps sherry or wine

1 ounce 6 -can orange juice frozen concentrate

1 lg garlic clove minced

1/2 cup honey or sugar

2 cups water


Combine all ingredients except chicken in deep pot. Heat to boiling, add chicken & stir to coat thoroughly. Return to boiling & cook covered 15-20 minutes.
Uncover, remove from heat & cool in sauce 1 hour or longer. Transfer with tongs to large flat baking dish, & pour sauce over chicken. Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hr. Stir occasionally.
Cool & chill or freeze on cookie sheet. When frozen, place in zip lok bag & freeze till ready to use.
Before serving, broil or microwave till heated thoroughly.


Serving Ideas: Use all thighs & serve with fried rice.
