6 egg whites - room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar; reserve 1 tbsp.
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 pint whipping cream
sliced fresh fruit (kiwi strawberries, peaches,etc)

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Beat egg whites till STIFF. Then slowly add sugar while beating. Mix cornstarch & 1 tbsp reserved sugar. Toss over beaten egg whites & fold in. Add vinegar and vanilla & fold in.
Cover cookie sheet or large pizza pan with waxed paper. (Run one side of paper under cold water & place on cookiesheet wet side UP.)
Pour stiff whites out into circle 2" thick (or thicker). Bake at 300 for 1 hour or till outside is hard and crisp when tapped. Cool 10 minutes. Peel paper off & place on serving dish.
Filling: Whip cream (no sugar) and fill. Top with any sliced fruit or combination just before serving.
Notes: Make shell earlier in the day, and top with cream & fruit just before serving.
