Mexican Cheese Sandwiches

  • Orowheat bread cocktail size or larger
  • 1 lb. grated cheddar
  • small can chopped green chilies Ortega brand, if you can find it
  • l/2 cup salad oil
  • 3 Tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • few dashes of tobasco sauce
  • medium chopped onion
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon garlic
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce


  • Mix all ingredients together and spread on bread slices.
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 15 minutes.


This is what our family calls them. I don’t know the real name.
I got this from Pat and Phil Anthony Family Friends (Band Director and Piano Teacher) Our family likes these for a meal served with tomato soup.
